TRANSIT travellers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) can now book a Showcase KL Transit Tour online on the programme's website.
It also has a 10-step guide for passengers wishing to go on the tour and a printable map for them to plot their course and activities.
The Showcase KL Transit Tour was introduced two years ago for KLIA passengers with at least five hours' transit time.
Instead of whiling away their time at the airport, they can visit 40 of Kuala Lumpur's most popular spots on the KL Hop On Hop Off tour bus.
Different tour packages are available to suit passengers' transit hours, and the website offers recommendations on places to go and things to do according to the amount of time the passenger has.
Over 500 transit passengers have gone on the tour since 2010, a figure that the mayor expects to escalate with the introduction of the online booking facility.
"We have received positive feedback from the passengers, who, and after a few hours on the tour, showed keen interest in returning to KL for a longer visit.
"The website is also a step towards promoting the programme internationally," he said.
Previously, tickets were only available at the Showcase KL ticket counter at the arrival hall of KLIA in the satellite building terminal.
The price of a ticket, whether purchased online or at the counter, will remain at RM95.
"It is one of the lowest fares for transit tours compared with those in to other cities.
"The price is considered very attractive and affordable by the transit visitors," Phesal said.
"This programme is made possible by the collaboration between key partners in the government and the private sectors.
One of the partners is the immigration department, which issues the transit visas that enable the passengers to have a brief but enjoyable KL experience.
